<datacite:description xml:lang="en" descriptionType="Abstract">Tony Morrison won the 1978 National Book Critics' Circle Award for the novel "Sula", which depicts two black female friends and their community called the Bottom of Ohio. They are poor but smart, expecting to get better lives, Nel, one of the girls, accommodates herself to the community after alk by getting married to raise three children and to be happy. Her happiness, however, is interrupted by her intimate friend Sula because she had love affairs with Nel's husband. Sula leaves the Bottom for big cities to wander about as long as ten years. She comes back to hometown to live an experimental life and gets free of ambition with no desire for money, properties, things, greed, attention, compliments and so on. Sula's way of living was never understood by Nel as well as the community and people called her the revel, the mocker, the wanton sexual seductress. In the following description would like to make clear what the author tries to tell us through the heroine Sula.</datacite:description>
