Descriptive statistics were applied to data extracted from self-assessment forms completed after bathing exercises, and Mann-Whitney’s U test was run on differences between coordinators and learners. Among the comments that were written in the remarks column, those relevant to student learning enhanced by the student coordinator system underwent qualitative descriptive analysis. \nThe results showed that all students agreed these exercises were effective in aiding the learning of bathing skills and knowledge, and that they enhanced their motivation to learn. Comments indicated that autonomous learning, such as that indicated by a “proactive attitude \ntoward learning”and“increased motivation for learning,”was promoted for both coordinators and learners, and that the coordinators’“acquisition of teaching skills”from the perspective of students led to a “deeper understanding of knowledge and skills” among the learners. “Ease of learning brought about by horizontal human relations” between student coordinators and learners generated active discussions among the students.
