| 内容記述 | Alice Walker's "Meridian" is a novel describing the growth and development of a single Afro－American girl, living in the turbulent years while the Vietnam War was expanding and the assassinations of Martin Luther King and John F. Kennedy well expressed a growing current of violence. With a theme of spiritual development, this novel focuses on key turning points and factors involved, analyzing the girl, her parents, friends and sweetheart (factors related to human relations), as well as the church and the black rights movement (social factors). Another key point in this type of novel is an examination of just what development is, and "Meridian" defines it as the spirit of the Mother of the Afro－ American, like Terra herself, as formed through a variety of historical factors. | |||||||||||||
